Strange incidents occur in the heart of "Shonajhuri" forest in rural Bengal, which develops an ominous character of its own that allures and finally engulfs the protagonists.
A haunting rustle of wind, a mysterious light in the forest, and perhaps the creepiest scene ever to include a harmonica, this diptych blends enigmatic characters, eerie settings, and spectral sounds into a sensate film. The first of two stories, “The Polymorph,” captivates you, drags you into a dark world, and leaves you wondering about the masked humans, the demons, the sudden time warp, the techno what? The second, “Maya,” follows a cook who’s told he won’t last—no one ever does, not even the locals! Is he dreaming the strange woman, the pounding music, and the door that leads…where? More fantastic than gore, a phantasmagorical trip. – Kelly A. Harrison
