Description

NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE

Facing the threat of an eviction, the tenants of a low-income tenement house join in solidarity to come out of their self-absorption and fight for a common cause.

What does it mean to live in community? Young and old have thrived in a Mexican town center with deep roots and deeper history. Jonathan Perez Pillar, is literally the pillar of one such neighborhood and keeps friends abreast of upcoming events. The film gives a bird’s eye view of individual community members’ struggles and dreams. It’s a poignant look at people with so little, sharing so much, while beautifully bringing alive their multi-faceted lives by shining a magic light on their day-to-day activities. There are families, loved and respected elders, and friends. Can this ordinary group of citizens resist the powerful landowners determined to evict them? You will be glued to your seat as the drama unfolds. – Angela Ettinger
