WORLD PREMIERE
The story of an Eritrean-American woman’s journey into the restricted and poverty-stricken Eritrean refugee camps in Eastern Sudan. Her journey reveals the never-before-seen conditions that these refugees live in every day.
When Eritrean-American filmmaker Sabrina Aman went to a ‘matrimony event,’ she didn’t find a husband, but she did hear the story of life in Eritrea and the horrors that afflicted the nation and its refugees. She travels to camps in Sudan where the thousands of Eritrean refugees have been gathered. We follow Sabrina’s journey not only in the camps, but, into herself, and her family’s heritage. Traveling with her, we, too, encounter suffering and fear, and find the deeper personal meaning in what it means to be of a place, but not from a place. The Forgotten packs emotion into every second, drawing you in, making you wonder what you can do to prevent these refugees from being forgotten. – Chris Garcia
